Guadalajara's New Lifestyle Brand

For those in the know Mexico has long been an important destination for aficionados of sports such as polo and golf. In fact, Mexico hosted the most recent World Polo Championship and ranked second runner-up. And not only is Mexico- with its 150 golf courses- the top destination abroad for U.S. golfers, but Lorena Ochoa from the state of Jalisco dominated and left the sport at the very top this year.

Now Tucane- a lifestyle clothing company out of Guadalajara- hopes to be the preferred choice of home-grown players and well-dressed aficionados. The company offers sport and fashion enthusiasts a colorful variety of design for both men and women.

The fashion line not only preaches to the choir, but regularly sponsors golf and polo tournaments thereby expanding the culture for the masses to get familiar with and enjoy.

La Casona de Tete- A Treasure of Mexican Decor

La Casona de Tete is a colorful and unique boutique hotel located in the center of Lagos de Moreno, Jalisco, Mexico. It’s a candy store for lovers of Mexican design, decoration, and detail. A casona is literally a big house. And Tete’s is only a few steps away from the 450 year-old cathedral that gives Lagos de Moreno its historical and welcoming identity.

La Casona is the brainchild of Maria Teresa Anaya who envisioned and executed the conversion of her late father’s home into a sensory-filled Mexican experience for travelers. She oversaw the remodeling and renovation from A to Z, installed modern comforts and amenities (flat screen TV’s, Jacuzzis, and wireless broadband connection) and yet managed to integrate her family’s influence into the hotel’s charming personality.

First, there’s Sabor a Mexico(photos above)-the most folkloric of the six suits- with its collection of specially handcrafted furnishings and decorations. Modern rustic furniture, specially commissioned artwork , artisan works of tin, antiques, and traditional Mexican toys are some of the details that adorn this suit.

Las Virgenes, on the other hand, has a much more conservative theme. The room is stocked with images and statues of the Virgen Mary and her various depictions throughout history - both in Europe and Latin America.

With her mother in mind when designing El Rinconcito de Dona Tete, the younger Tete put her twist on Mexican interior design. For example, instead of a wooden headboard, an intricate metal framework hangs above the head of the bed and its hand-embroidered pillows. And remember Grandma’s Singer foot pedal sewing machine? In El Rinconcito, they’re put to good use by having been converted into a small table and lamp stand.

Not to be outdone, La Alcoba de Don Juan, in honor of the family patriarch is a spacious splendor that, with its large windows, wooden shutters and rustic bars, invites romantic imagery of mariachis and midnight serenade
